Display of posters and notices on upcoming events.

Daily Notices/Intranet Site

Coming events are displayed and put through daily notices. Open Days, part-time/full-time jobs advertised, scholarships etc.

One to One Counselling 

Through an appointment system.  Students make an appointment with staff and are given an Appointment Slip which allows them out of class. These appointments can be up to an hour long but are usually for 20mins.

Every Year 13 student and any Year 12 student considering leaving school will have an interview.
Parents are welcome to attend interviews.









Pathways Planning 

An evening when liaison staff from Tertiary providers, Armed Forces, NZ Police, private training providers and staff from school departments are present.

Parents and students are welcome to attend and discuss option choices and careers with these staff.

Gateway

The GATEWAY programme is designed to strengthen the pathway for Year 13 and 13 students to progress from school to the workplace.

Students are given the opportunity to 'test drive' their career choices, while they continue to study at school.  Students gain NZQA credits.

Applications are taken in Term 3 for the following year.  Further information and application forms are available from Careers and the Gateway office.

Taster Day – UNITEC 

For students who are 98% sure of the area they want to study and need final confirmation of their decision. 

Careers staff will contact UNITEC and make arrangements for students to attend.  Places are limited.

Taster Tour and Talk - UNITEC

These will run monthly from 9.30am - 11.30am depending on the individual students needs.  This will give students an overview of what United is like and students will be able to speak to a Programme Advisor.
